Hello,

My name is Leoni and I’m a mother to two beautiful children (who can at times be quite the opposite!) and I’m married to a pretty amazing husband who is completely supportive in everything I do. I come from a string of hospitality workers and chefs, however I chose a desk job as my career. I hated baking and was not adventurous when it came to decorating cakes, actually to be honest up until 5 years ago I’d never made a cake in my life. It was just something I had no interest in at all. Which is odd, considering now that’s all I do!

When I decided to take a redundancy from a less than perfect 9 to 5 job, I turned to food, cupcakes in my situation! I baked my first cake for my daughters 2nd birthday and it was the most nerve wracking thing I’d done. From that day on I was hooked! Through nothing other than blood, sweat and tears (trust me there’s been many) I have and am still learning the art of cake decorating. I’m proud to say that I am 100% self taught and to this day there is not a day that goes by where I don’t learn something new. Which makes this job I have pretty amazing. I thank the humble cupcake for getting me started and whilst I still make cupcakes today my passion is with the large cake. I love the thrill and excitement of the a design/challenge, even though at the time I wonder if I’ll be able to do it!
I love what I do, I love creating and decorating, I feel almost at peace or in my element when I’m creating. I love to see the reactions on peoples faces and am thankful that I play a small part in their memories of years to come. I’m very fortunate to be able to do this for a living now and I’m thankful that I took that redundancy from my less than perfect 9 to 5 job!
